The research project, HOT-ICU trial

– the aim of the trial is to assess whether a lower level of oxygenation in the blood has beneficial effects in critically ill patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit with respiratory failure.

When the lungs ability to absorb oxygen is reduced you need supplemental oxygen. In this trial we compare a liberal treatment of oxygen (the standard treatment) with a more restrictive treatment of oxygen.
